Cantante nacido en Leeds, Michael Chapman - contemporáneo de Bert Jansch y Al Stewart - surgió a mediados de la década de los '60 con su exclusiva manera inglesa de tocar folk-blues. La época de los cantautores estrellas del pop se inicio en EEUU con Bob Dylan y Tom Paxton, y pasó rápidamente a Gran Bretaña con cantantes como Donovan o Cat Stevens. Pero lo que músicos como Chapman y Jansch aportaron al folk fue el virtuosismo con la guitarra.
'The Decca Years 1974-77' es un digipack con 3 Cd's de 8 paneles más libreto, que contiene los tres álbumes publicados por el británico para esta compañía, 'Deal Gone Down' (1974), Savage Amusement (1976) y 'The Man Who Hated Mornings' (1977) incluyendo pistas extra no publicadas anteriormente.
