Santo Domingo was created in collaboration with the local Ministry of Tourism. The book features original
photography by nomadic Parisian photographer Aline Coquelle, a global citizen and traveler who specializes in
photography surrounding humanity and wildlife.
Often considered the oldest European city in the New World, Santo Domingo pays homage to this title with a
carefully preserved Zona Colonial, home to buildings dating from the 1500s. Santo Domingo achieves what
some consider impossible: It is a cosmopolitan Caribbean city. The ocean is never far away, with the Malecon,
or waterfront boulevard, connecting inhabitants to the island spirit. Texts by David Collado, the minister of
tourism of the Dominican Republic, and Rosanna Rivera, provide the ultimate exploration of this destination,
from those who know it best.
