Marta Álvarez

Marta Álvarez is a Director of El Corte Inglés, together with her sister Cristina Álvarez and, through Cartera de Valores IASA, is the largest individual shareholder of El Corte Inglés.

A law graduate, she is an expert in the retail and department store business. Marta Álvarez has spent most of her professional career linked to El Corte Inglés, having held various positions of responsibility in different Group companies.

She began her career at Viajes El Corte Inglés and, after a few years living outside Spain, she joined the Castellana (Madrid) establishment performing different duties, starting in fashion sales.

From July 2019 until January 2026, she was Chairwoman of El Corte Inglés. Between 2021 and 2026 she was chairwoman of the Ramón Areces Foundation.

Married with two children, she is a great lover of art, to which she has also dedicated part of her professional life working at the prestigious Sotheby's auction house, both in London and Madrid.
