Viajes El Corte Inglés Group and Envera (Association of Iberia Employees Parents of People with Disabilities) have signed a framework collaboration agreement to advance in the creation of a more accessible and inclusive tourism.
Envera is a non-profit organisation founded in 1977 by Iberia employees with children and relatives with intellectual disabilities. Today, it is an organisation open to society as a whole that cares for more than 5,000 people with disabilities and their families, accompanying them throughout their life cycle, from early care to adulthood, through training programmes, employment, leisure, culture, sport and specialised assistance in residences and day centres. Endorsed by the Fundación Lealtad for its ethical and transparent management, its work aims to ensure they all occupy their place in the world with dignity, the great social project of the Iberia airline.
The partnership with Viajes El Corte Inglés Group marks a joint roadmap to develop initiatives that remove barriers in the care, planning and enjoyment of travel. The aim is to standardise the presence of people with special accessibility requirements, whether permanent or circumstantial, within the entire tourism value chain.
The agreement includes training and awareness-raising activities for sales teams, the development of tools to facilitate accessibility in the offer and the incorporation of good practices that place people at the centre of travel experience design.
The signing took place at Envera's headquarters, where representatives of Viajes El Corte Inglés Group toured the company's facilities under the slogan "On the journey of life, there's room for everyone". They visited the early care centre, the training and work insertion spaces, the adult residence, the occupational centre and the Radio Terrícola workshop, where reporters with intellectual disabilities interviewed María de Andrés, the Group's sustainability manager. An experience that put a real face and purpose to the partnership.
This agreement joins other measures that Viajes El Corte Inglés Group has implemented to improve customer service for customers with disabilities. The company has a hotline (91 324 72 52), specialised travel agencies in all the territories where it operates and has trained its personal travel advisors. As part of this commitment, a new campaign will be launched on 26 May to showcase a wide selection of adapted trips, already available on the website, which include transport, accommodation and accessible activities in different destinations: viajeselcorteingles.es/especiales/turismo-accesible
