El Corte Inglés restructures its executive leadership

The Board of Directors of El Corte Inglés has today approved, with immediate effect, the restructuring of the company's top executive team.

Santiago Bau has been appointed General Manager of El Corte Inglés, with direct responsibility for all the Group's businesses, in addition to the corporate and financial area.

Rafael Díaz Yeregui, Deputy Secretary of the Board, has been appointed General Secretary of the company, with the rank of general manager, and is taking charge of the legal, sustainability and human resources departments.

Both will report to the Monitoring Committee of the Board of Directors, chaired by Marta Álvarez, and comprising Cristina Álvarez and José Ramón de Hoces as members.

After a period of reflection by both parties, Gastón Bottazzini is leaving the company by mutual agreement.

The President and the Board thanked him for his professionalism, as well as his work and dedication to El Corte Inglés.

In addition, the Board has appointed Álvaro Parrón as director of the Real Estate division, replacing Javier Catena. 

Brief biographical notes

Santiago Bau Arrechea holds a degree in Law and Business Administration from ICADE, a degree in Political Science and Sociology from UNED, and an MBA from Harvard University. After a long career at investment bank Goldman Sachs, he joined El Corte Inglés in March 2022 as Corporate General Manager. 

Rafael Díaz Yeregui holds a degree in Business Administration and Management and Law from the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has held various positions as legal advisor in investment banking at Barclays and later as a partner at Pérez-Llorca. In 2021 he joined El Corte Inglés as Corporate Legal Director, and since 2022 he has been Deputy General Secretary.
